Day trip to Elkins

Today we headed to climb Bickle Knob Observation Tower (used to be a fire tower) in Monongahela National Forest. We took the longer route to pass through the Philippi Covered Bridge first. It was about 4 miles on a dirt road up the mountain but quick walk from car to the tower. Very cool 360 views with the leaves changing. Before heading into Elkins, made a quick stop to sit in the Big Chair at Crazy Harry’s Greenhouse. Fantastic lunch at El Gran Sabor with fried tostones, andouille sausage cachapa, beef arepa and mushroom empanada - highly recommend! Walked around the Elkins Train Depot, beautiful red trees right now too. Shopped in Delmonte Market and then some ice cream cones at The Crossing next door. Drove through Davis & Elkins college campus. Went a few minutes out of town to see the Little Church (can hold 4 people) before time to head back home!
