Tucker County Day Trip

Today’s day trip to see a little fall foliage starting to peek through in Tucker County and it was great weather. Climbed the 133 steps up Olson Observation Tower in Monongehela National Forest to take in the views - it was a bit chilly at the top! Headed to Douglas Falls and climbed behind the waterfall, little slick so glad we had hiking boots on. On the way out, stopped at the old coke ovens that used to burn from coal. Next stop was Lindy Point Observation Deck…in which a car was parked in front of sign to enter the trail soooo we wandered down another trail for a bit until realizing this seemed too far - luckily it was still an enjoyable little hike before finding the right path out to stunning views! Time for lunch so drove back to Thomas to park and wander around. Ate sandwiches with a cold beer outside at the Purple Fiddle. Popped in a few shops and art galleries and getting my first ever chagaccino & a dessert at TipTop before heading back to Morgantown.
